“The Gigante and I, an Impossible Duet and the Disagreement” 24x36 Inches Acrylic on Canvas
The birdhouse on her head, represents a symbol of safety, comfort, and providence, also embodies freedom and connection. It attracts birds, creatures known for their freedom and flight, representing the balance between offering care and allowing independence.
Birdhouses are often crafted in unique and artistic ways, reflecting the imagination and individuality of their creators.
“El Gigante,” (The Giant) a Spaniard friend who brings laughter and wisdom to my life as an artist, claims to be a free bird. However, his mind is caged by the idea that he doesn’t belong to
anyone.
This story is an inside joke, a testament to the joy we shared in our conversations. The title of the newspaper, originally “La Guerra de Las Cucarachas” (The War of the Cockroaches), a book he was reading at the time, was changed to “Romeo and Juliet: The Cockroach Love-story
version” for this painting. I have a habit of incorporating people I meet into my paintings, transforming them into characters in their own narratives. No one is safe from my artistic influence!
